He Went to Pick Up His DoorDash Order at a Crash Scene — What Happened Next Changed a Driver’s Life

What began as an awkward food pickup at the scene of a serious car accident turned into an unexpected story of generosity, community support and a second chance.

A Maryland DoorDash driver named William Koroma was making a delivery when his vehicle suffered brake failure, causing a crash that left his car totaled. Instead of arriving at the customer’s doorstep, Koroma contacted the customer’s wife and explained that they could collect their food directly from the accident scene.

The customer, Glenn Ndibnu, decided to head over. But when he arrived in Bowie, Maryland, and saw the damaged vehicles and emergency responders, the unusual situation suddenly felt much more serious than an ordinary food delivery.

“I think that’s my food right there,” Ndibnu said as he approached the scene in a video that would soon spread across social media.

Although Koroma had offered to hand over the order, Ndibnu admitted that he felt uncomfortable collecting his meal while the driver was dealing with the aftermath of a crash. He checked on the driver, expressed his concern and apologized for what had happened.

What could have remained an awkward viral moment soon took a much more meaningful turn.

A Viral Video Sparks an Unexpected Wave of Support

The accident left Koroma facing far more than the loss of his vehicle. According to his fundraising page, the crash also affected his ability to work and earn a living, leaving him struggling with transportation, medical expenses and other essential costs.

Koroma launched a GoFundMe campaign to help him purchase another vehicle and begin rebuilding his life. After Ndibnu’s video gained attention online, people began contributing to the fundraiser.

By October 8, the campaign had raised more than $16,600 — enough to help Koroma purchase a replacement car.

According to FOX 5 DC, Koroma has since returned to driving for work. For someone whose livelihood had been disrupted in a matter of moments, the donations offered a practical way to move forward.

Koroma expressed gratitude to the people who stepped forward to help him during a difficult period. He also thanked Ndibnu for bringing attention to his situation.

Reflecting on the experience, Koroma offered words of encouragement, saying that he believed the events had happened for a reason and urging others to remain calm and have faith during difficult times.

DoorDash also responded to the incident, saying the company was relieved that its driver had escaped the crash unharmed. A spokesperson praised the customer’s compassion and highlighted how communities can come together to support someone facing an unexpected hardship.

The company also noted that delivery drivers have access to certain insurance coverage for accidents occurring during deliveries, subject to applicable policy terms and requirements.

In the end, a video that initially caught attention because of its unusual circumstances became a reminder of how quickly an ordinary day can change — and how the actions of strangers can make a difference when someone needs help.

For Koroma, the unexpected outcome was more than a viral moment. It meant getting back behind the wheel, returning to work and taking another step toward financial stability.
