Kentucky Woman Flees Police, Runs Red Light and Flips Car in Violent Crash That Throws Passenger From Vehicle
A 23-year-old Kentucky woman is facing a murder charge after allegedly leading police on a dangerous pursuit, speeding through a red light and causing a devastating crash that ejected a male passenger from her vehicle. Jhonna’Kaye Parra was arrested following the October 27, 2026, collision in Louisville, which left one man dead and several other people injured. What began as an attempted traffic stop quickly escalated into a high-speed emergency with deadly consequences.

According to police, the incident began at approximately 11 a.m. near the intersection of South 24th Street and Garland Avenue. A Louisville Metro Police Department officer attempted to stop Parra’s vehicle after authorities determined it had been reported stolen in Peru, Indiana. Rather than pulling over, Parra allegedly accelerated away, prompting a pursuit. As she fled, she reportedly attempted to pass another vehicle that was stopped at a red light.
Police said Parra drove through the intersection against the red signal and struck another vehicle. The impact sent her car rolling over, and the force of the collision threw a male passenger out of the vehicle. He was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition but died two days later, on October 29. Authorities have not publicly released his identity.
The crash also left several other people injured. A woman riding in Parra’s vehicle suffered a broken hip, while two occupants of the other vehicle were taken for medical treatment and later released. Parra herself was transported to a hospital before being taken into custody. A booking photograph reportedly showed her wearing a neck brace following the collision.
Parra now faces several serious charges, including murder, first-degree and second-degree assault, first-degree fleeing or evading police, and first-degree criminal mischief. The murder charge is connected to the passenger’s death, while the assault charges relate to injuries sustained by other people in the crash. Authorities have not publicly explained the precise legal theory behind the murder charge, and the allegations have yet to be tested in court.
According to reports citing local jail records, Parra is scheduled to appear in court on November 12, 2026. Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the pursuit, the stolen vehicle and the fatal collision. The case is a tragic reminder of how a decision to flee a traffic stop can place innocent passengers and other road users in immediate danger. For the family of the man who lost his life, the crash has left behind a devastating loss and unanswered questions.
