McDonald’s Parking Lot Meetup Turns Deadly: 20-Year-Old Man Killed as Gunfire Erupts, Police Say
A planned meeting outside an Alabama fast-food restaurant ended in deadly violence, leaving one young man dead, another person injured, and two suspects in custody. Investigators have yet to publicly explain what led to the shooting.

A Meeting That Ended in Gunfire
A gathering outside a McDonald’s restaurant in Birmingham, Alabama, took a tragic turn on September 28, 2026, when gunfire erupted, killing 20-year-old Isaiah Earl Hosanna and injuring another person, according to police.
Authorities believe Hosanna and others had arranged to meet someone outside the restaurant on Bessemer Road. As the meeting came to an end, a person allegedly opened fire. Hosanna and others reportedly tried to flee, but Hosanna was struck by gunfire.
Officers responding to reports of a shooting shortly before 9 p.m. found Hosanna in the parking lot. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead at approximately 9:30 p.m.
The second victim suffered injuries that police described as non-life-threatening. The shooting also left multiple windows at the restaurant shattered.
Two Suspects Arrested
On October 6, police arrested 20-year-old Ernesto Pablo and an unnamed 17-year-old boy in Decatur, Alabama, approximately 80 miles north of Birmingham.
Pablo faces charges of capital murder in connection with Hosanna’s death, attempted murder, and discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle, according to the Birmingham Police Department.
The teenage suspect was also taken into custody and placed under a 48-hour felony extension at the Birmingham City Jail. Authorities had not publicly clarified the charges against him in the report.
Pablo was booked into the Jefferson County Jail without bond.
What Led to the Shooting?
Despite the arrests, a central question remains unanswered: What happened during the meeting that caused it to turn violent?
Police have not publicly established the purpose of the gathering or explained what may have led to the gunfire. Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the deadly encounter.
The case has also drawn attention to the impact of gun violence in the community. In the days following the shooting, local community groups gathered outside the restaurant to raise awareness and encourage people to resolve disagreements peacefully.
For Hosanna’s family and loved ones, the investigation now centers on understanding how a meeting outside an ordinary fast-food restaurant ended in a young man’s death.
Pablo and the teenage suspect have been arrested, but the allegations have not been proven in court. The investigation and legal proceedings will determine the circumstances and responsibility for the shooting.
