New York Mother Charged With Murder After Husband Finds Their 25-Year-Old Son Dead on His Birthday

QUEENS, NEW YORK — A 62-year-old New York woman has been charged with murder after her 25-year-old son was found dead inside the family’s home with fatal stab wounds on his birthday, according to authorities and media reports.

Suk Kuen Wong faces murder and criminal weapons possession charges in connection with the death of her son, Bryan Wong, in the family’s home in Woodside, Queens.

Bryan was discovered by his father on October 14, 2026, the day he turned 25. Investigators reportedly found wounds to his neck and torso, and knives were recovered from the scene.

The case took another troubling turn when Suk Kuen allegedly attempted suicide later that day. She was seriously injured and remained hospitalized as of the latest reports. Prosecutors had not yet confirmed that she had been arraigned.

Father Discovers Son Inside Family Home
According to reports, Bryan’s father made the devastating discovery inside the family’s Queens residence.

The young man had suffered multiple injuries, including a deep wound to the left side of his neck and cuts to both wrists, according to the New York Post. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police recovered at least three knives from the home as part of their investigation.

Authorities have not publicly disclosed a motive for the alleged killing. Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding Bryan’s death and the events that preceded it.

The fact that Bryan was found on his 25th birthday added to the tragedy for those familiar with the family.

Mother Charged After Alleged Suicide Attempt
On the same day Bryan’s body was discovered, Suk Kuen Wong allegedly jumped from an overpass along the Van Wyck Expressway in what authorities described in reports as an apparent suicide attempt.

She survived but reportedly suffered fractures to her pelvis and femur. She remained hospitalized following the incident.

A suicide note was reportedly discovered at the family home. According to media reports citing a police source, investigators suspected Wong’s involvement in her son’s death early in the investigation.

She has since been charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon.

As of October 23, prosecutors had told Gothamist that Wong had not yet been arraigned. Her plea, if any, had not been publicly reported.

The charges are allegations, and she is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

Reports Say Bryan Was Nonverbal
Bryan reportedly had autism and was nonverbal, according to accounts from neighbors cited by the New York Daily News.

One neighbor, Patricia Guevara, recalled that Bryan was unable to speak and generally remained at home.

“He wasn’t able to speak,” Guevara told the newspaper, describing him as a young man who made grunting sounds rather than using spoken language.

Her comments offered a glimpse into Bryan’s life and the circumstances observed by people living near the family.

Authorities have not publicly explained whether Bryan’s reported disability had any connection to the events leading to his death. No motive has been established.

Neighbors Remember a Quiet Family
The deaths and allegations have shocked residents who knew the Wong family.

Neighbors described the family as quiet, friendly and well-liked in the community. One longtime resident expressed sadness over Bryan’s death, recalling watching him grow up over many years.

The accounts paint a picture of a family known to people in the neighborhood, making the circumstances surrounding the tragedy particularly difficult for those who lived nearby.

However, investigators have not released enough information to establish what happened inside the home before Bryan was found.

Investigation Continues as Mother Remains Hospitalized
The NYPD investigation has resulted in murder and weapons charges against Suk Kuen Wong, but important questions remain unanswered.

Authorities have not announced a motive or publicly provided a complete timeline of the events surrounding Bryan’s death and the alleged suicide attempt.

Wong’s medical condition and hospitalization have also affected the timing of the court proceedings. Prosecutors had not reported an arraignment as of the latest coverage.

For Bryan’s father and the rest of the family, the case began with the discovery of a son who had died on his birthday. For the surrounding community, it has raised painful questions about a tragedy inside a home that neighbors had known for years.

As the investigation proceeds, officials are expected to establish further details through the evidence collected and the legal process.
