Pennsylvania Mother Accused of Killing Her Husband and 3-Year-Old Son During Family Resort Vacation
A family vacation at a popular Pennsylvania resort ended in an unimaginable tragedy after a 27-year-old woman allegedly stabbed her husband and their 3-year-old son to death before attempting to take her own life, authorities said. The case has shocked the community, particularly after investigators revealed the emotional statements the woman allegedly made while being taken to a hospital.

Metallica Rose Harrison, of Towanda, Pennsylvania, has been charged with two counts of criminal homicide in connection with the deaths of her husband, Charles Harrison, and their young son, identified in court documents only as T.H. She is being held without bail at the Monroe County Correctional Facility as the investigation continues. Authorities have not publicly established a motive for the killings.
According to a probable cause affidavit cited by Law&Crime, police were called to the family’s room at Great Wolf Lodge in Scotrun, in the Pocono Mountains, on October 12, after Harrison contacted emergency services while expressing suicidal thoughts. During the call, she allegedly told the dispatcher that she needed help dying and was too weak to stab herself in the neck. When asked whether she was alone, she reportedly said her husband and son were already dead. Investigators said she did not request medical assistance for either victim during the call.
When officers arrived, they reportedly found Harrison injured near the doorway, with cuts on her left wrist and superficial puncture wounds around her neck. She allegedly told them she wanted to be with her husband and son. Inside the room, officers discovered Charles and the child lying on separate mattresses. According to the affidavit, Charles had sustained multiple stab wounds to the chest, while the boy had a single stab wound to the same area. Investigators also recovered a large kitchen butcher knife and a smaller knife in the bathroom, neither of which reportedly belonged to the resort.
Harrison was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment, and authorities said she continued making emotional statements during the ambulance ride. She allegedly said she had made a terrible mistake and expressed frustration that her attempt to end her own life had not succeeded. She also reportedly spoke about how hard she had worked to become a good mother and wife, saying she had always envisioned having a happy family. Those remarks have become a particularly heartbreaking detail in a case that left both her husband and young child dead.
The family had checked into Great Wolf Lodge on September 21 and extended its stay, with checkout scheduled for October 13. Surveillance footage reviewed by investigators reportedly showed the family entering their room together on the evening of October 11. Later that night, Harrison and her husband were seen leaving the room to visit the resort’s arcade before returning approximately 40 minutes later. Authorities have not publicly explained what happened inside the room before police were called the following afternoon.
After receiving medical treatment, Harrison was questioned by investigators but reportedly declined to discuss the circumstances that brought her to the hospital. She was subsequently taken into custody and charged with two counts of criminal homicide. Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 21. At a news conference, Monroe County District Attorney Mike Mancuso described the incident as a “violent domestic tragedy,” while police emphasized that they believed it was an isolated family incident and that there was no continuing threat to the public.
The resort also expressed sorrow over the deaths and said it was cooperating fully with law enforcement. For now, many questions remain unanswered, including what led to the fatal incident and whether investigators will uncover further details about the family’s final hours. As the case moves through the court system, the deaths of Charles Harrison and his 3-year-old son remain at the center of a devastating investigation, with the full circumstances still to be established in court.
