Soaked Beaver Rescued From Broken Boardwalk As Floodwater Surges Beneath It

A small wet beaver has been rescued from a damaged riverside boardwalk after becoming stranded on splintered wooden planks above a swollen, fast moving river.

Bodycam footage timestamped 2026-10-26 08:52:14 shows the beaver crouching nervously on one of the few stable boards left, its brown fur soaked by heavy rain. Beneath it, muddy floodwater rushes past broken planks, tangled branches, and debris carried downstream.

A wildlife responder, wearing a dark green waterproof jacket, black gloves, and a safety harness, approaches slowly along the damaged walkway. Moving carefully to avoid startling the frightened animal, the rescuer kneels on a secure section of the boardwalk and extends one hand while steadying the other against the wood.

The beaver turns its head and sniffs nervously, but does not run. Moments later, the rescuer gently wraps a protective towel around its body and lifts it away from the broken edge, keeping it fully supported at all times.

The footage ends as the rescuer carries the beaver toward an intact section of the walkway, where a secure wildlife carrier waits above the floodwater.

The rescue is a reminder of how quickly rising water can cut off even strong swimmers, and how a calm, patient approach can make the difference between panic and safety.
