A frightened golden retriever puppy, soaked to the skin and stranded above rising floodwater, was gently rescued from a flooded sports locker room after a responder waded through the muddy water to reach him.

Bodycam footage shows the scene in striking detail. Blue lockers line the walls, towels and sports bags float in the brown water, and in the middle of it all, a small golden puppy sits alone on a wet wooden bench, his ears drooping and his eyes wide with fear.

As the rescuer approaches, the puppy watches every movement, blinking nervously while water ripples around the responder’s legs. There is no rush, no shouting, just slow, careful steps through the floodwater.

Kneeling beside the bench, the rescuer extends both gloved hands toward the puppy. One hand slips gently under his chest, the other supports his hindquarters, and the little dog is lifted from the bench, water dripping from his golden fur.

Held securely against the rescuer’s chest, the puppy begins to calm. The responder then turns toward the exit, moving carefully through the shallow floodwater toward a dry evacuation area.

It was a short rescue, but for one tiny puppy trapped in a flooded room, it meant everything.
