Waitress Rushed to the Hospital After Alleged Attack Over Unpaid Restaurant Bill — Police Launch Manhunt for Suspect
She was simply trying to stop a group from leaving without paying. Moments later, a young waitress was reportedly injured badly enough to require emergency medical treatment, leaving a family-run restaurant demanding answers.

A young waitress in Manchester, England, was taken to the hospital after allegedly being assaulted while confronting a group of diners who reportedly left without paying their bill.
The disturbing incident occurred at Noodle Alley, a family-run Szechuan-style street food restaurant in Manchester’s Chinatown. According to the restaurant’s owners, the employee was trying to recover the money owed when the confrontation allegedly turned violent.
Now, police are searching for a man they believe could help them investigate the reported assault.
A Restaurant Bill That Allegedly Turned Violent
The incident reportedly happened at around 5:30 p.m. on September 27, 2026, at the restaurant on Faulkner Street.
CCTV footage shared by Noodle Alley appeared to show a staff member pursuing three customers up a staircase. Additional footage from outside reportedly showed a man running down the street as people followed him.

The restaurant later shared images of the young waitress’s injuries, saying she had been assaulted while attempting to recover what had allegedly been taken from the business.
The employee was taken to the hospital’s emergency department for treatment.
For the restaurant’s owners, Wendy and Ken Chen, the incident was especially upsetting because the worker had been doing her job when the alleged attack occurred.
‘Nobody Should Have to Go Through This’
In a statement shared online, the restaurant described the incident as a frightening experience for its staff.
“One of our young staff members — a girl simply doing her job — was assaulted after going beyond her duty to try to recover what had been taken from our restaurant,” the owners said.
They added that the employee had been deeply affected emotionally by what happened.
According to the owners, the waitress said she had treated the customers kindly and never expected that kindness to be met with violence.
The family-run business also expressed concern that small restaurants were increasingly being targeted by people allegedly leaving without paying.
“What hurts us most is seeing how emotionally affected she has been by what happened,” the owners said.
They confirmed that the incident had been reported to police.
Police Release Image as Search Continues
Greater Manchester Police confirmed that officers were investigating an alleged assault at a premises on Faulkner Street.
Police released an image of a man they want to speak with, saying they believe he could assist with their inquiries.
Authorities have asked anyone with information about the incident to contact police on 101 or through the force’s website LiveChat, quoting reference number CRI/06A2/0030137/26. Information can also be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
At the time of the report, police had not announced an arrest in connection with the alleged assault.
Not the First Reported Dine-and-Dash Incident
The latest incident has also raised concerns because Noodle Alley reportedly experienced another dine-and-dash incident just two months earlier.
In that earlier case, the restaurant shared footage of a man wearing flip-flops who allegedly left without paying.
For a small, family-operated business, incidents involving unpaid bills can create financial pressure. But the alleged assault has brought a much more serious concern to the forefront: the safety of employees who may find themselves confronting customers over unpaid meals.
The owners’ immediate concern remains the young waitress’s recovery and the emotional impact the incident has had on her.
As police continue their investigation, the case serves as a troubling reminder that a dispute over a restaurant bill can escalate into something far more serious. Investigators are still seeking information, and the allegations have not yet been tested in court.
