Son Accused of Killing His Father, Cutting His Body Into 238 Pieces and Hiding the Remains in Freezers

A horrifying discovery inside a family home in the Netherlands exposed one of the country’s most disturbing murder investigations. Tijmen Visser, 33, is accused of killing his own father, Albert Visser, before cutting his body into 238 pieces and hiding the remains in two freezers. The case remained a mystery for years until investigators finally uncovered the gruesome evidence inside the property in Heerhugowaard.

Albert Visser had reportedly been missing since 2021. Initially, authorities considered the possibility that he had taken his own life or left the country. However, concerns grew after one of his friends raised the alarm, prompting police to issue a missing-person report in 2023. Investigators began searching the property and surrounding area, initially focusing on the garden. But it was the work of specialist sniffer dogs that eventually led officers to the house and the shocking discovery inside.

Police reportedly found 19 bags containing human remains distributed between two freezers. The remains had allegedly been divided into 238 pieces and concealed for an extended period. Investigators believe Albert had been killed inside the home, although the exact sequence of events and the full circumstances surrounding his death remain central questions in the case.

During court proceedings, Tijmen’s lawyer, Daniel Fontain, presented a striking account of what allegedly happened. According to the defense, Tijmen believed his father was trying to poison him with rat poison after offering him a cup of tea. When he confronted Albert, the older man allegedly attacked him with a knife. The lawyer claimed that Tijmen fought back, repeatedly kicking and punching his father until he realized the man was no longer breathing. Panicked, he then allegedly dismembered the body and placed the remains in freezers. The defense also described a deeply troubled relationship between father and son, claiming that their home life had been marked by violence and years of conflict.

Neighbors reportedly told investigators that arguments between the two men were frequent and sometimes loud. One neighbor recalled hearing repeated confrontations but said nobody imagined the situation could end in such a horrifying way. Tijmen’s former girlfriend, aged 31, has also been named as a co-suspect in the investigation, although her case is scheduled to be heard separately. Authorities have not publicly established the extent of her alleged involvement.

The case returned to court in November 2026, as prosecutors and the defense continued addressing the circumstances surrounding Albert’s death. The central issue remains whether Tijmen acted in self-defense, as his lawyer claims, or whether the killing was an intentional crime. The discovery of the remains brought an end to years of uncertainty about Albert’s disappearance, but it also opened a deeply disturbing legal battle over what happened inside the family home. Until the court reaches a verdict, Tijmen remains accused and is presumed innocent.
