FOUR-YEAR-OLD AUTISTIC GIRL VANISHES IN SPAIN DURING TERRIFYING STORM — THEN POLICE FIND HER ALONE IN THE RAIN
A four-year-old British girl with severe autism sparked a desperate search in Spain after she disappeared from her family’s holiday home as torrential rain and dangerous flooding swept across the region.

The little girl had reportedly escaped through an unsecured door while staying with her family in Costa Blanca. Her parents soon realized she was missing and immediately began searching for her — just as Spain was being battered by extreme weather and a red alert was in place.
The search took an especially worrying turn because of the conditions. Heavy rain was pounding the area, while flooding and powerful storms were causing widespread disruption across parts of eastern Spain.
Then came the moment the family had been desperately hoping for.

Spanish police officers reportedly found the girl alone in a residential area, disoriented and wearing only a nappy while standing in the pouring rain. Officers took her to a nearby medical center so she could be checked before she was finally reunited with her parents.
The family had been due to return to the UK the following day, making the disappearance even more frightening. Fortunately, the search ended with the child safely back with her family.
But the story comes as Spain continues to face dangerous storms and flooding. At least two people have died in the wider weather disaster, while other vulnerable people have also been reported missing.
How did the little girl manage to get away unnoticed — and how far had she traveled before police found her in the middle of the storm?
