75-YEAR-OLD REALTOR FOUND STRANGLED IN HER BASEMENT — MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO MURDER
A beloved Indiana real estate agent was found dead in the basement of her own home. Now, the man accused of killing her has admitted to the crime.

Susan Haynie, 75, was discovered dead inside her home in Evansville, Indiana, on August 27, 2025. Authorities said she had been strangled, leaving her family and community devastated by the shocking loss.
The man responsible, Jamerus Parkman, 35, has now pleaded guilty to murder and burglary, according to court records. He is scheduled to be sentenced on December 2, 2026.
Investigators believe Parkman entered Haynie’s home through an unlocked door before killing her. Police reportedly linked him to the crime through evidence that included a tablet showing he had been in her yard around the time of the killing.
The case has raised further questions about Parkman’s criminal history. Reports indicate he was paroled in February 2025 after serving 13 years of a 35-year prison sentence for previous offenses, including burglary, robbery and attempted rape.
For those who knew Haynie, she was more than a real estate professional. Her obituary described her as a lifelong Evansville resident who cared deeply about her clients and was remembered for her generosity, warmth and ability to bring joy to the lives of others.
Now, as her loved ones continue to mourn, Parkman’s guilty plea marks a significant development in a case that has left a community searching for answers.
