Alabama Man Convicted of Murdering His Nephew’s Wife After Argument Over Missing Cow: “There You Go”

An Alabama man has been found guilty of murdering his nephew’s wife after a heated argument over a missing cow ended with a fatal shotgun blast. Timothy Houston Harville was convicted by a Lawrence County jury on November 4, 2026, in the 2023 killing of 46-year-old Angela Berryman Hill Harville. In addition to murder, jurors found him guilty of second-degree unlawful imprisonment, menacing and first-degree burglary. The verdict came more than three years after the shooting, which took place at Angela’s home in the Hatton community of Lawrence County.

The deadly confrontation began on the evening of September 14, 2023, when Timothy went to Angela’s residence while searching for a cow that had gone missing. Angela was home with her teenage son and a family friend. According to testimony presented at a preliminary hearing, Timothy began arguing with the friend, who was reportedly sitting on the porch with a firearm. The disagreement escalated, and Angela’s teenage son later told investigators that Timothy threatened to shoot the tires of his vehicle with a shotgun kept inside his own car.

As tensions continued to rise, Angela reportedly tried to prevent the situation from getting worse. She separated the two men into different rooms and called her husband, asking him to come home and help remove Timothy from the property. During that phone call, her husband could reportedly hear the argument unfolding in the background. At one point, Angela was heard telling Timothy, “Go ahead and blow my brains out.” Moments later, her husband heard a gunshot, followed by Timothy saying, “There you go.” When Angela’s husband arrived approximately 10 minutes later, he found her dead.

Authorities determined that Angela had suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head. She was pronounced dead at the scene, and her body was taken to a forensic laboratory in Huntsville for an autopsy. Investigators identified Timothy as the suspected shooter and took him into custody. During the investigation, authorities recovered a 12-gauge shotgun from his home. According to reports, the weapon used ammunition of the same size as a shell casing discovered at the crime scene. Timothy reportedly maintained that Angela had invited him into the house and was still alive when he left, but prosecutors presented evidence that ultimately led the jury to convict him.

Following the verdict, Angela’s family expressed relief that the case had reached a conclusion after years of waiting. In a statement shared with local media, the family said that nothing could bring their loved one back, but they were grateful that her death would not go without justice. Timothy Harville is expected to appear for a sentencing hearing in January 2027, where he could face the possibility of spending the rest of his life in prison. For Angela’s family, the jury’s decision marks a significant step toward closure after a tragedy that began with a seemingly ordinary search for a missing cow and ended in a fatal confrontation.
