Bodycam Captures Heartwarming High-Rise Rescue: Rope-Access Rescuer Lifts Tiny Owl Chick From Bell Tower Nest

Published October 16, 2026 — Fifteen seconds of chest-mounted bodycam footage has captured the delicate moment a rope-access rescuer lifted a stranded owl chick from a fragile nest high inside an old stone bell tower.

The timestamp reads 2026-10-15 20:56:04 as the camera ascends through the tower’s interior — past massive bronze bells, centuries-old wooden beams, and drifts of feathers and nesting debris. Daylight streams through the high gothic openings, and far below, the city spreads out in a dizzying vertical drop.

Near the ruined nest, the rescuer finds the chick: a tiny ball of fluff, its down dirty with nesting debris, its enormous dark eyes fixed directly on the camera. Two black-gloved hands move in slowly and close gently around the fragile bird, carefully tucking its wings against its body.

The final seconds show the chick calm and protected in the rescuer’s hands as it is carried away from the exposed ledge toward a more secure position inside the tower — the bells silent, the wind rushing through the stonework, the city glittering far below.

Wildlife specialists note that owl chicks found outside intact nests at height are extremely vulnerable to falls and exposure, and that trained rope-access handlers are often the only ones who can reach them safely. The chick in the footage appears unharmed and alert throughout the rescue.

No music, no narration — just wind, creaking ropes, fluttering feathers, and the faint chirps of a very lucky little owl.
