British Man Arrested After Taxi Driver Is Stabbed 16 Times in Spain
A British passenger was arrested in Seville after allegedly stabbing a taxi driver at least 16 times during a violent early-morning attack. Despite suffering multiple wounds, the driver managed to get himself to a police station for help.

Taxi Journey Turns Violent
A taxi driver in Seville, southern Spain, was seriously injured after a passenger allegedly attacked him with a knife in the early hours of Saturday, September 19, 2026.
The incident reportedly happened around 2 a.m. at an industrial estate in the Andalusian city.

According to local media reports, the passenger initially asked to be taken to Los Arcos shopping center before changing the destination to the industrial area.
The driver reportedly became suspicious and refused to continue the journey. Investigators believe the disagreement escalated into a violent confrontation, during which the passenger allegedly launched a knife attack.
Driver Suffered Multiple Stab Wounds
The driver was reportedly stabbed at least 16 times, sustaining injuries to his hands, arms, neck and shoulder.
The attack allegedly continued for several minutes, and the knife reportedly broke during the assault. Investigators later recovered the handle inside the taxi and the blade after it was discarded nearby.
Despite his injuries, the driver managed to drive himself to police headquarters, where an officer provided first aid while emergency medical personnel were summoned.
Paramedics subsequently transported him to a hospital for treatment. His injuries were serious, but reports indicated that his life was not believed to be in danger.
Suspect Arrested After Alleged Attack
Police located and arrested the alleged attacker shortly after the incident. According to an emergency services spokesperson, the man had traces of blood on him and strongly resisted arrest.
The suspect’s identity was not immediately released, and authorities had not confirmed whether he was visiting Spain or lived in the country.
He was expected to appear before a judge, who would decide whether he should remain in custody or be released on bail while the investigation continued.
The suspect is expected to face an attempted murder charge, according to reports. The allegations have not been proven in court.
Taxi Drivers Raise Safety Concerns
The attack prompted renewed concerns about the safety of taxi drivers working overnight.
Seville’s taxi union called for stronger police protection, arguing that insufficient patrols leave drivers vulnerable while transporting passengers during late-night and early-morning hours.
The union’s concerns reflect the risks drivers can face when disputes arise during journeys, particularly when they are working alone.
Local officials also condemned the attack and praised the injured driver for managing to reach police despite his wounds.
Investigation Continues
Spain’s National Police are leading the investigation and are working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the alleged attack.
Investigators are expected to examine witness accounts and other available evidence as the legal proceedings move forward.
The case has drawn attention to the dangers faced by transportation workers and the importance of ensuring that drivers can seek help quickly when confronted with violence.
The taxi driver’s decision to reach police headquarters despite his injuries enabled him to receive urgent assistance. Authorities continue to investigate the alleged attack as the suspect faces potential criminal proceedings.
