College Student Accused of Secretly Recording Sexual Encounter and Sharing Video With 32 Fraternity Members

A college campus has been shaken by allegations that a 19-year-old student secretly recorded an intimate encounter with a female student and shared the footage in a fraternity group chat containing approximately 32 people.

Alexander Michael Evanoff was arrested on October 19, 2026, following an investigation into the alleged incident at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, according to PEOPLE.

Investigators allege that the encounter took place inside the woman’s dorm room on September 19. Although the encounter was reportedly consensual, authorities say the woman did not give permission for it to be recorded or shared. Later that day, the footage was allegedly posted in a Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity Snapchat group chat.

The case took a troubling turn when the woman reportedly confronted Evanoff about the recording. According to court documents, he allegedly acknowledged sharing the video and apologized. Investigators also stated that he admitted recording and distributing the footage without her consent.

Evanoff faces two felony counts of secret peeping and one count of disclosing private images, according to local news reports. He was released on a $10,000 bond following his arrest.

The university confirmed that Evanoff is no longer enrolled and condemned the alleged conduct, stating that such behavior would not be tolerated within its campus community. The fraternity also reportedly said his bid for initiation had been rescinded after its leaders learned of the allegations.

Evanoff’s next court appearance was scheduled for November 5, 2026. The charges remain allegations, and the case has not yet reached a final legal resolution.

The incident raises serious questions about consent, digital privacy, and the consequences of sharing intimate recordings without permission. For the woman involved, the alleged violation extended beyond the private encounter itself—raising concerns about how quickly deeply personal footage can spread through social media.
