🤠 MARRIED TO A STRANGER

PART 1: I MARRIED A COWBOY TO SAVE MY FAMILY… BUT HE HAD A SECRET

I married a man I barely knew to save my family’s ranch.

I thought it would be the worst decision of my life.

But I never imagined that my new husband would look me in the eyes on our wedding night and say:

“Don’t fall in love with me, sweetheart. Because one day, you’ll wish you had never met me.”

My name is Abigail Turner. I was 24 years old, and my family was on the verge of losing everything.

Our ranch had belonged to my family for three generations. It was the only home I had ever known. But after my father’s sudden death, we discovered that he had left behind enormous debts.

The bank gave us thirty days to pay.

Thirty days before strangers would take our land, our horses, and every memory we had built there.

My mother cried every night. My younger brother stopped talking about his dreams of becoming a rancher.

And I felt completely helpless.

Until one afternoon, a wealthy ranch owner named Nathaniel Brooks arrived at our front gate.

He was everything I had been taught to avoid.

Tall, handsome, confident, and impossibly arrogant.

He wore a black cowboy hat, an expensive leather vest, and boots that looked cleaner than anyone’s in our dusty little town.

His family owned the largest ranch in the county.

“I hear your family is having financial trouble,” he said, looking around our property.

I crossed my arms.

“If you’re here to buy our land, save your breath.”

He gave a small smile.

“Actually, I’m here to make you an offer.”

I narrowed my eyes.

“What kind of offer?”

He stepped closer.

“Marry me.”

I almost laughed.

“I’m sorry. Did you just say marry you?”

“Yes.”

“Have you lost your mind?”

“Possibly. But I can pay off every dollar your family owes. Your mother keeps the house, your brother keeps the ranch, and nobody touches your land.”

I stared at him, unable to believe what I was hearing.

“Why would a man like you want to marry someone like me?”

For the first time, his confident expression changed.

“Because I need a wife. And you need a way to save your family.”

It sounded like a business deal.

No romance. No promises. No expectations.

Just a marriage on paper.

I hated him for making such an offer.

But I hated the thought of losing my family home even more.

After three sleepless nights, I finally agreed.

Our wedding took place the following Saturday at the old church near the town square.

There were no flowers, no romantic music, and certainly no fairy-tale moments.

Nathaniel stood beside me in a black suit and cowboy boots, looking as though he were attending a business meeting rather than his own wedding.

When the pastor asked if he would take me as his wife, he answered without hesitation.

“I do.”

When it was my turn, my voice trembled.

“I do.”

And just like that, I became Mrs. Nathaniel Brooks.

That evening, I arrived at his enormous ranch house.

The place was beautiful, but strangely cold. There were expensive paintings, polished wooden floors, and rooms that looked as if nobody had lived in them for years.

Nathaniel showed me to a bedroom at the end of the hallway.

“This is yours,” he said.

“Mine?”

“You’ll have everything you need. But there are three rules.”

I sighed.

“Of course there are.”

“First, don’t enter my private office. Second, don’t ask about my past. And third…”

He paused, looking directly into my eyes.

“Never pretend this marriage is real.”

I swallowed hard.

“Don’t worry. I know exactly what this is.”

He nodded and turned to leave.

But just before closing the door, he stopped.

“Abigail?”

“Yes?”

His voice suddenly became softer.

“Whatever happens, don’t trust anyone who tells you they knew your father.”

My heart stopped.

“What does my father have to do with this?”

Nathaniel didn’t answer.

He simply walked away.

I stood frozen in the doorway, trying to understand what he had just said.

Then, a few minutes later, I heard a strange noise coming from the hallway.

A door creaked open.

I stepped outside and noticed a small envelope lying on the floor.

My name was written across it.

With trembling fingers, I opened it.

Inside was an old photograph of my father standing beside Nathaniel.

But that wasn’t the shocking part.

On the back of the photograph, someone had written a single sentence:

“Your father didn’t die in an accident. Your husband knows who killed him.”

I felt my knees weaken.

At that exact moment, Nathaniel appeared behind me.

His face turned pale when he saw the photograph.

“Where did you get that?” he demanded.

I slowly turned toward him, tears filling my eyes.

“Tell me the truth, Nathaniel. Did you marry me to save my family…”

I held up the photograph.

“Or did you marry me because you know who murdered my father?”

For the first time since I met him, the powerful cowboy looked completely helpless.

Then he whispered:

“Abigail… there’s something about your father that you were never supposed to discover.”
