🤠 THE COWBOY WHO STOLE MY HEART

PART 1: THE STRANGER WHO RODE INTO MY LIFE

I never thought I would fall in love with a cowboy. Especially not a cold-hearted stranger with piercing blue eyes, a dangerous reputation, and secrets buried deeper than the desert itself.

But sometimes, the people who change our lives the most are the ones we least expect.

My name is Emily Carter. I was 24 years old when I left New York behind, carrying nothing but a suitcase, a broken heart, and the hope of starting over.

After losing my job and discovering that my fiancé had been cheating on me, I decided to move to a small town in the American West to stay with my aunt.

I thought I was escaping my past.

I had no idea I was riding straight into a whole new kind of trouble.

It all began on a hot summer afternoon when the stagecoach carrying me overturned on a dusty road just outside Red Valley.

My suitcase was scattered across the ground, my dress was covered in dirt, and the sun was slowly disappearing behind the mountains.

As I struggled to pull my belongings out of the mud, a deep male voice suddenly came from behind me.

“Planning on staying out here until the sun goes down, sweetheart?”

I turned around.

A tall cowboy sat on a magnificent black horse, watching me with an amused expression.

He wore a faded brown hat, a white shirt with rolled-up sleeves, and a worn leather vest. His jaw was strong, his beard slightly unshaven, and his blue eyes were colder than the winter wind.

“I don’t need your help!” I snapped.

He raised an eyebrow.

“Suit yourself. Nearest town is fifteen miles away. And judging by those clouds, you’re about to have a very bad evening.”

Before I could answer, he turned his horse and rode away.

I stood there, furious.

What an arrogant man!

But a few minutes later, the sky darkened. The wind grew stronger, and heavy rain began pouring down.

My dress became soaked, my suitcase was nearly impossible to carry, and I was beginning to realize that I might not make it to town before nightfall.

Then I heard the sound of approaching hooves.

It was him.

The same cowboy had returned.

He stopped beside me and stretched out his hand.

“Get on. I’m not going to stand here all night.”

I hesitated.

“I don’t even know your name!”

He looked down at me, his expression unreadable.

“Names don’t matter out here, sweetheart. Staying alive does.”

I reluctantly took his hand.

His grip was warm and strong. He pulled me effortlessly onto the horse, and before I knew it, we were riding through the pouring rain.

For the first time that day, I felt safe.

But something about this man made me nervous.

When we finally reached his ranch, he helped me down and led me toward a wooden house surrounded by endless fields.

“What’s your name?” I asked.

He paused for a moment before answering.

“Jack.”

“Just Jack?”

“That’s all you need to know.”

I rolled my eyes.

“Well, thank you for saving me, Mr. Mysterious Cowboy.”

For the first time, I saw a faint smile cross his face.

But that smile disappeared the moment he noticed something inside my suitcase.

He froze.

His eyes widened as he picked up an old photograph that had fallen onto the floor.

It was a picture of my mother, taken nearly twenty years ago.

Jack stared at it for several seconds before whispering:

“Where did you get this?”

I frowned.

“It’s my mother’s photograph. Why?”

He looked at me, his expression suddenly filled with shock.

Then he said something that made my blood run cold.

“Emily… your mother was supposed to be dead.”

❤️ What do you think Jack knows about Emily’s mother? And why did he react so strangely when he saw that photograph?
