Bodycam Captures Heart-Stopping Rescue: Cliff Rescuer Steadies Soaked Goat Kid Clinging to Rain-Slicked Canyon Wall

20:37, October 15 — A chest-mounted bodycam recorded the moment a rope-access cliff rescuer reached a tiny, terrified goat kid stranded on a steep, rain-soaked red-rock canyon wall — and held it steady so it could be brought to safety.

Pinned to the wall

The fifteen seconds of footage open on a near-vertical wall of wet red sandstone. Runoff streaks the stone, the narrow gorge and muddy canyon floor are visible far below, and pressed against the rock — soaked to the bone, fur matted with mud — is a small goat kid. Its legs tremble against the slick surface. Its eyes, wide and unblinking, stare straight into the camera.

A careful descent

The camera — worn on the rescuer’s chest — sways gently as the rescuer rappels down the wall in tan cliff-rescue gear, black gloves, harness, ropes and carabiners all visible in frame. Water drips steadily off the rock. Boots scrape for purchase on the slick stone. Somewhere below, runoff rumbles through the gorge.

Held steady

Then the rescuer’s hands enter the frame: two black-gloved hands reaching for the frightened kid. One steadies its chest, the other supports its neck, pressing the animal gently back against the rock so it cannot slip. The goat flinches — then, visibly, begins to calm under the firm, careful hold. Rope tension creaks. A soft bleat escapes the little one. The rescuer begins turning it into a safer extraction position, suspended on rope against the canyon wall.
