Rescuer Guides Soaked Dog Off Ledge Beside Raging Flooded Drainage Channel

Bodycam footage from September 18, 2024, captures the tense rescue of a medium-sized black-and-white dog trapped on a narrow concrete ledge just inches from a flooded drainage channel surging with muddy stormwater beneath an elevated highway.
The dog — its long fur soaked through, a white stripe running down its face — had pressed itself flat against the concrete wall, frozen as water roared violently through a metal drainage grate a few feet away. When the rescuer arrived in a bright orange waterproof jacket, climbing harness and safety ropes, the dog didn’t bark or bolt. It simply watched, frightened but alert.
What followed was a slow lesson in trust. The rescuer extended one black-gloved hand and waited. The dog leaned forward and sniffed it. A second later, a steady hand settled gently on the dog’s shoulder.
Guided carefully backward along the slippery ledge, away from the churning water, the dog reached a wider concrete platform — and turned toward the camera, noticeably calmer, its ordeal over.
