Michigan Father of Four Found Dead in Pickup Truck After Suspect Arrives at Friend’s Home Covered in Blood Asking for Help

A Michigan mother of four was found dead in the back of a pickup truck after a 44-year-old man allegedly arrived at a friend’s home covered in blood, claiming he had been stabbed and needed help. What initially appeared to be a medical emergency quickly turned into a homicide investigation when deputies located the man’s truck and discovered the severely injured woman inside. The victim was identified as 28-year-old Holly Luna.

According to the Kent County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to a residence in Nelson Township, Michigan, at approximately 10:52 a.m. on Monday, November 2, 2026. A woman had reported that a man she knew had shown up at her home covered in blood, claiming he had been stabbed. Responding officers found the man confused and disoriented and arranged for him to receive emergency medical treatment. He was subsequently airlifted to a hospital.

But the discovery inside his pickup truck changed the entire investigation. When authorities located the vehicle, they found Luna lying in the back, unresponsive and critically injured. Deputies immediately attempted lifesaving measures, but she was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators believe she had been stabbed in Montcalm County before the suspect drove her body across county lines into Kent County.

Authorities said Luna and the suspect had known each other for years and had an established relationship. Before the discovery, the Greenville Department of Public Safety had already been searching for Luna and the man’s pickup truck after receiving a report from her family. Investigators are now working to establish exactly what happened before the suspect appeared at his friend’s home and why he allegedly drove away with Luna in the truck.

The 44-year-old man was subsequently charged with open murder and carrying a weapon with unlawful intent. His name was initially withheld by police pending his arraignment. After being released from the hospital, he was booked into the Kent County Jail. The investigation is being handled across county lines, with authorities in Montcalm County agreeing to pursue the charges.

Meanwhile, Luna’s family is mourning the loss of a young mother whose death has left four children without her. Relatives have launched a fundraising campaign to help cover funeral expenses and support the family during this difficult period. As investigators continue gathering evidence, many questions remain unanswered, including the precise circumstances of the alleged stabbing and what prompted the suspect to seek help at a friend’s house while Luna was in his vehicle. The defendant has been accused of murder, but the allegations have not yet been proven in court.
