The Only Dry Spot Was a Kitchen Table: Bodycam Shows Soaked Golden Puppy Rescued From a Flooded Restaurant Kitchen

Bodycam footage recorded on October 27, 2024, at 14:36:52 shows a flood rescuer standing in muddy water inside a flooded commercial restaurant kitchen, where a small golden retriever puppy stands stranded on a stainless-steel preparation table, pans hanging overhead, containers drifting across the submerged floor and heavy rain still visible through the glass entrance doors.

The video, filmed entirely from the rescuer’s chest-mounted bodycam, opens looking down at the puppy where it waits near the edge of the wet steel table. Its warm golden fur is soaked and clumped together, its floppy ears hang heavy with water, and its large brown eyes stay fixed on the rescuer. The rescuer, wearing a bright orange waterproof flood-rescue jacket, black waterproof gloves and a black rescue harness with metal carabiners, holds one hand against the table’s edge for balance and extends the other slowly toward the puppy.

He does not rush. Both gloved hands rise low over the table surface and hold steady while the puppy lowers its head, blinks, and cautiously takes one small step forward across the slick metal toward them. Only then do the hands slide gently beneath it, one supporting its chest and the other under its belly and hind legs, lifting it just a few centimeters clear of the table while water drips from its golden coat.

In the closing seconds the puppy is lowered gently onto a folded beige towel resting on the same steel table, kept low and secure between the rescuer’s hands the whole time. It sits up on the dry cloth and looks straight into the camera, calmer now, one gloved hand resting lightly at either side of it, while behind it the flooded kitchen, the hanging pans and the rain-streaked entrance doors stretch away — still soaked through, but safe above the water at last.

Rescue workers remind the public never to wade into a flooded restaurant or commercial kitchen themselves to reach a stranded animal: floodwater indoors can hide sharp debris, cleaning chemicals and sudden drops, and electrical hazards may be present around kitchen equipment. Calling local emergency or animal rescue services — and keeping a safe distance until they arrive — gives animals like this little golden puppy the best chance of a calm, careful rescue like the one captured here.
